I just got a flyer for a couple of 1 day seminars that Edward Tufte is doing in Seattle. I'm interested in going, but wanted to see if anyone here has ever been through one of his courses. I already own several of his books and am curious to find out if the information presented at the seminar draws directly from the books (in which case I'd probably pass), or if the course content is substantially different and fresh.

I attended his lecture in Portland a couple of years ago, right after the publication of his latest book. There was content beyond that in his books, but the positives in that have to be weighed against the negatives of his endless self-promotion. The man has a colossal ego.

It has been quite a while since I went to see him. He does, indeed, have a colossal ego, but he is also entertaining. On the other hand, I think most of what he had to say was out of his books, and the cost of the seminar was kind of steep.
