I am trying to understand how Replica geodatabase works. Do I need to have ArcSde to use it ?
I am the GIS Specialist and am helping 5 soil scientists. I created a one personal geodatabase that has their soil line work in it. They have no problem change a line, but the problem is they can't open the personal geodatabase to make edits at the same time. I am trying to create replica geodatabase so they can work edits at the same time. Is that possible ?
We are currently using ArcGIS 9.2 SP 6 at this time and do not have ArcSDE installed on our machines.
HELP !
Thanks !

Hi there
It comes down to the type of gdb. A Personl Gdb can only have one editor. While the File gdb can only have one editor per feature dataset
It's a dangerous thing having 5 users editing the same gdb. I think versioning does what you want...but it might be restricted to ArcSDE only.

Yes replication only works with Arc SDE. Sorry. You could do some cumbersom task like make five identical file gdb then use the compare features tool to decide which feature to append back to your master Gdb. essentially you would do all the leg work not the machine.
