My feeling is that at this scale a single line style would work better than the Euro double line style. The double line style requires that the streets be wide enough to hold legible text. For most Canadian and USA city street densities, this requirement starts to strain at about 1:25000. The roads will either look too wide (even wider than the blocks between them) and/or the street names will be hard to read, at least for older readers.

Of course cartographers are often not at liberty to determine scale (or style, for that matter) for a given project, but I've found that certain kinds of argument can be compelling with clients and bosses. Visual comparisons of legibility at different scales, tied with implications for marketing, can often help people to "get it" relative to scale and legibility.

I am working at the 2010 version of this map right now, and I am mostly done the map face I think... I am sure there will still be some minor tweaks, but for the most part, its done.

I have made a post in the Map Gallery section for some feedback, please check it out!!
