Hi everyone,
Does anyone know whereabouts I could find a file that shows every single village/town in England? Specifically for Northamptonshire if that's easier. Thanks, David. |

Does anyone know whereabouts I could find a file that shows every single village/town in England? Specifically for Northamptonshire if that's easier. See: http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/cntry_files.html There is a tab-delimited text file with lat/lon coordinates for the UK here. This can be made into a shape file and projected to OSGB36 easily enough, but there are problems with some of the data. Regards, N. -------------------- Caversham, Reading, England.

There is also other source from Geonames.org. Have a look at http://download.geonames.org/export/dump/GB.zip

One other. Go here:
http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/europe/great_britain/ and download 'england.shp.zip'. In this archive there is a file called 'places.shp'. The data in this file is an order of magnitude better than that in the files mention above. Regards, N. -------------------- Caversham, Reading, England.
