Does anyone here know of a program that can convert .KML/.KMZ Google Earth files to GIS .SHP files? I know the online converter from zonums.com is one but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment. If anyone here knows of any other sources, I would appreciate a response!
Thanks!

FME can do it, so can MAPublisher.

For KML files the quick, easy (and free) way is to use DNR Garmin.

It works stand-alone (i.e. doesn't need any of the ARC family).

You can use ogr2ogr in FWTools. I just did this yesterday with mixed results, but it is free.

I don't seem to have much luck converting from KML to SHP using ogr2ogr. The other way about, SHP to KML, works without problems but KML to SHP always fails. I'd be grateful if you could give me an example ogr2ogr command line?

I've used this ArcScript for KML conversion and it seems to work fine.
