Definitely THE nicest web mapping service. Both the design and functionality have taken a big jump forward. MapQuest, MSN, and others will have to play some catch-up.

Nick, I totally agree. I know the organization that I work for could take some lessons.

It seems they're adding high-quality satellite imagery of selected parts of Europe. One of the first to become available of The Netherlands has about half of my town on it, including my house :P

see here

Oh, somewhat related... on the 'standard' zoom level, in the map view, the labels for The Netherlands and Belgium are swapped.. <_<

Erin,

Yep, just the southern half. In fact, in the view I linked to, you can already see the change to low-res data at the very top. The high-res data continues to the south and west for many miles, but my house turns out to be a few hundred yards from the northern edge and less than a mile from the eastern edge.

Shame the canals were covered in pond scum... they look nicer without :(

Hans,

When I sent out a link regarding the swapped country names one of the smart alecs in the office responded with this.

No thats actually correct. the Netherlands have traded in their swamp for less imminently submerged lands. the Belgians, being part french, thought they were getting a good deal on some waterfront property but in fact got soon to be under-water front property : )

thought you might get a chuckle (I hope)

I'd rather swap countries with a nation that's a bit more tropical...
