Hello,
I have orthophoto TIF and i would like to convert him to a SID file, but I don't want to use the GeoExpress 7 (LizardTech), the trial version leaves watermarks.
If anyone knows about any other converter please help me.

Thanks

I'm not sure there is an easy, cheap way of doing this yet. There is free software for converting images to ECW, but this isn't what you want :( .

I think GDAL would work.

try using gdal_translate command in FWTools Shell:

c:\dir\filelocation\>gdal_translate yourimage.tif newimage.sid

oops-nevermind MrSID is a read-only driver
It should work going from SID to GTiff though

c:\dir\filelocation\>gdal_translate yourimage.tif newimage.sid

As you say, this won't work with the off-the-shelf build of gdal_translate. I think it is possible to build a version that will convert from TIFF to SID but this entails compiling-in some non-open-source libraries.
