So here is a company that apparently has patented the idea of overlaying additional info on google map using a grid as your design layout. I did not read the whole thing but I hope I am wrong about what they are claiming to be proprietary:

Checkout the Hyper Map Atlas, alot of hyper "Hype" IMO but it is the patent that is worrying.

It looks to me that it is the Map Key layout that they have patented. Don't know that you could patent a layout grid could you?

SRTM data of Italy actually:
Sat image

Just did some relief shading work for some textbook maps of the Adriatic sea and the terrain around Napoli was really interesting. Very lunar in fact.
