I was in the library of a neighbouring community the other day, just passing the time, when I came across this:
Attached File  sample.jpg   305.65KB   193 downloads
(Here's a larger full version)
a quilted map of the city (in this case Richmond Hill, Ontario). The town seems to be ideal for this sort of thing - the major streets all pretty much form squares - parallelograms actually. I thought it was such an usual quilting "topic" - and yet one that makes complete sense now that I see it - that I had to share it. Compare to the same area on Google.

blanket maps: http://www.hapticlab...s/blanket-maps/

lovely, but the claim that they "can be used as a mnemonic tool" is perhaps a little far-fetched.

Wow - how did they do that?! Neat. The quilting makes it look hilly and dreamy.

On this site, I have now seen maps on blankets, scarves, clothing, bracelets, wallpaper, furniture, fine art, shower, curtains, rugs, umbrellas, sides of buildings and a bunch of other things.
Would'nt be cool to put them all together in one apartment or house. Depending on how you did it, you could be featured in Architectural Digest or the local newspaper as a interesting nut.
