the route depicted on the map is a testament to how clean the Hudson and East River are compared to decades ago (more polluted, more smelly), as well the hinterland of Manhattan. Also, am glad the map does not show or even make reference, or blame, to New Jersey :)

The map doesn't do much for me, but the evocative smell descriptions read like poetry and make me hungry, disgusted and intrigued, all at the same time.
