This seems to be a rather intriguing mobile 3D city application for the iPhone platform and it's called (appropriately enough) Mobile 3D city.

That is so cool!

I think I'm gonna buy an iPhone just for that one... ;) Something to play with in the train each morning! :D

Darnit Matthew, you should have put a disclaimer in your post that all of us doing .skp and bird's eye/oblique work need to be sitting down before we start that video! :P

Seriously, WAY cool. Now I'm going to be daydreaming about collaboration and integration of our design work in that tool instead of chipping away at my To Do List. Thanks...thanks a lot!

Seems like they're doing some cool map things with Paris. Last night I caught a glimpse of another iPhone ad on tv where it looked like the person was pulling up antique and/or handdrawn- style maps of Paris.

I just saw that ad also, and was able to view the app in question. It's a product of Rick Steves' European Travel empire. They have produced 6 complete iPhone tours (Paris, Rome, Louvre, Versailles, Peter's Basillica, and the Orsay Museum) that feature hand-drawn maps on parchment with links to POI's, restaurants, etc. plus video's and informational content. They look like pretty slick personal tour guides!

Sorry Derek. I got excited an forgot the disclaimer.

The data throughput seems very impressive. I wonder how big the app is and what optimizations they use to push all that geometry. Someone's been working hard. <_<

I'll bet they are using C3 data...

That is awsome.
It does look like the C3 stuff
But as with the C3 website, we cant seem to find out which cities are done or available or planned.
