Hello, my name is Mamata Akella and I am a cartographer on the Mapping Center team at ESRI in Redlands, CA.

I look at the postings on CartoTalk pretty regularly and finally decided to sign up! This is a great site and i just want to introduce myself and tell everyone hello! I am always the 'Anonymous' viewer looking at entries -- so no more anonymity. And now I can actually look at attachments!

Hi Mamata, and welcome to Cartotalk!

Hey, the attachments in the Map Gallery are the thing that makes Cartotalk so great ;)

I find that Carto-Talk can often be a very intimatading place to post with so many experienced cartographers. ;)

"There is much beauty that we fail to see through our own eyes teeming with life forms that give us that perception of our reality.  Leaves on the trees blowing gently in the wind, or scarily, the waves pounding through high surf, or lightly on a warm summer’s day; that opportunity to sit or swim in the water on a white beach.   That comfort to shout, “The universal conscious do you hear me?  I am alive, guide me dear logos towards the path of rightnesses.”  Earned what has been kept, no longer to be absorbed into a life filled with cold damn winds and  that stubborn fog clouding  my vision with nothing but darkness."

Hey Makella, Glad you made the introduction. Cartotalk is super friendly. Map critiques can be nerve wracking, just like any work critique, but your map is always comes out the winner in the end.

being able to view attachments is well worth the price of admission! :)

If you can say, what specifically do you do at ESRI?

Hi Mamata, and welcome to Cartotalk. As if your life wasn't focussed on maps enough!

I enjoyed chatting with you in San Diego at the ESRI conference. Hopefully we can cross paths again in Sac. at NACIS.
