The marburg archive has on online version of the so-called Wilhelmshöher War Maps available. These maps, depicting acts of aggression from the 30 years war to the early 19th century are not only beautiful pieces of maps but also show the growth of Berlin trough a series of maps showing Prussian war games or the city of New York as mapped by an Hessian army cartographer in 1776.

Click on the "Erster Ausstellungsraum" link in the yellow box, then use use the box to navigate trough the collection. (see, frames are evil!) You can click on most maps to get a larger version. Removing the "&b=1200" in the URL then gives you an even larger image.

Some really nice maps, unfortunately products of aggression.
