Masters,

I have got a Vegetation Map of Tropical Continental Asia at the scale of 1:5 Million prepared by Blasco et al 1996. The map extends from India to Vietnam. The authors says that it is based on the basic map of American Geographical Society (1942) with Bipolar Oblique Conformal Projection. And also this projection forms the base for the FAO's Soil Map of the World. Does any one knows the appropriate parameters and correct projection details for Bipolar Oblique Conformal Projection in ArcGIS or Erdas? And any possibilities in georeferencing this vegetation map with a geographic projection in order to compare this with other recent seamless data (For eg. Global Land Cover 2000) of tropical continental Asia? Or is it possible to georeference this map in any GIS?

Thanks in advance

Suganthan
