Overview

Avenza Systems Inc. requires a Quality Assurance Specialist / Tester to work on the next generation of its cartographic and GIS products.

Description

* Create and execute test plans, test cases, using automated test tools and completing test objectives.
* Represent Quality Assurance in project team meetings and communicate results to team members.
* Serve as a technical resource for GIS information to others.
* Verify that products are developed according to functional specifications.
* Provide time estimates for testing and project plans.
* Communicate project status to project team and management.
* Record discrepancies in TestTrack defect tracking tool.
* Occasionally required to provide technical assistance to customers

Required Experience/Knowledge

* A GIS Diploma and/or a Bachelor's Degree in Geography or a related discipline, or equivalent job experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of GIS concepts, applications and software.
* Must be map-literate and have an understanding of geography, quality control and cartographic principles.
* A solid understanding of coordinate systems and map projections.
* Knowledge of spatial imagery and transformation concepts.
* Capable of writing clear and complete technical specifications.
* Literate with recent versions of Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.

Additional Desirable Experience/Knowledge

* Experience with Seapine software.
* Literacy with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
