Thought some of you might enjoy this one...

Ross Racine's artwork

Apparently, they're drawn freehand without scanned images. Yowza.

Wow. Definitely a neat idea. I wish there were some more explanation about how they were done as some definitely look like real aerials.

Very cool work! Here is a link to a pdf containing an explanation of his digital drawing.

Ok... another Twilight zone moment for me....
When I saw this post referring to a new York artist name Ross Racine, it flashed a very old memory...
There was a Ross Racine in my 6th grade class with whom I was not really friends with but with whom I collaborated to make a map of our schoolyard just for fun. Why I suddenly remember this for the first time -45 YEARS later- I dont know.
I followed up on his site and it is the same guy!.gif :o

Wow, those are amazing! (I'd hate to have to label or navigate some of those streets though! )

I hope you give him a poke! It's pretty nest that the both of you continued with spatial representations in your respective careers (albeit a different focus).

If you can find and post the map you made in 6th grade, I'll post one I made for a report I created on Indonesia in 4th grade that I recently dug out of an undescript box...

Anyone else in the Forum start making maps at an early age? We could start a new thread (or website!) focussed on childhood maps of career cartographers. :)

Yea right Matthew, I have that scribble made the year Kennedy got shot and that I did not remember till now right here in my wallet.
Actually did we not have a post string like that a while ago?
BTW, I did get in touch with Ross Racine and yes he was the guy in my sixth grade.
This idea that we both made a map back then gives me the creeps. It stinks of Predestination!
