Hi folks,

i'm trying to find sources for usa zip codes in shapefile format. Currently, I've been using the FREE USA TigerLines, found here: http://www2.census.g.../national-files

Problem is, they are from 2002. I have a bunch of streets that are in New York City that are part of the zipcode 10065. This was made AFTER 2002. Therefore, I would also have more streets with more zipcode which do not exist in my zipcode table.

Does anyone have any info about where I could grab any up to date (or at least from 2008), usa zip code shape files, please?

I believe ZIP code polygons are part of the TIGER 2007 update:

*** Oops, scratch that. I guess this is a similar link to the one you gave and the ZIP code part hasn't been updated.

I use a simple mapping program called territory mapper. It has a zip code shapefile built in to it. It has a free trial at www.territorymapper.com Give it a try.

You might find something from <a href="http://www.territory....com">Territory Mapper</a>. They include zip code shapefiles with the product that are current and pretty accurate. They may sell the shapefile. Ask.

Peeks:

Yes, Territory Mapper (www.TerritoryMapper.com) does contain current 5-Digit ZIP Code boundaries. We also have the 5-Digit ZIP Code data available in Shapefile format for use in other applications. The data is updated quarterly.

I have not found any national zip code files, but there is one for New York state at:

http://www.nysgis.st...ls.cfm?DSID=934

Hope that helps (at least a little bit).

By the way, if you compare that file to the Census ZTA's, you'll see that there are pretty significant differences. Those ZTA's are only a rough approximation of the actual zip codes. The USPS publishes the zip codes only in PDF format -- no doubt a dark conspiracy to make zip code data vendors rich. Seriously, how hard would it be to publish them in true digital form?
