I'm currently working on a project to show change in coastal grasslands and I have polygons from various year,s 1958, 1969, 1982, 1992 and 2008 of the boundaries of the coastal grasslands. I was wondering what would be the best way to show the change in coastal grasslands on a single map within a GIS.

Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks!

The usual approach would be to create a custom regular grid (such as utm squae grid, hexagons, etc) and see what was the situaton in each cell in each year. Visualising it then is simple
