Maps with no explanation. How did they measure those categories? What do the numbers mean?

The darker the color, the more of that sin there is in the county? But yes, what are these "indexes" even based on? I guess we have to read the study

Interesting article and maps (not to mention methodology).

I wonder how accessible the nationwide data for their "sloth" calculation (Sloth was calculated by comparing expenditures on arts, entertainment and recreation with the rate of employment). It would be interesting to look at a map based on their 'uncertainty.'

Thank goodness I don't live in Dewey County South Dakota! :)

Thanks, Nat! I didn't see the associated article. I read it now and think they're still on shaky ground. Of course it's a bit tongue-in-cheek so I'm not taking it seriously. :P

My wife reports that when she worked at Bloomberg, there was a "sin index" of stocks someone set up internally. I think sloth was based on mattress companies and probably La-Z-Boy...
