I was thinking Norway, but I Googled for 'castle hotel' and while I found lots of castles that are now hotels - nothing was a match...

I was thinking "modern castle" = Newcastle. Then "something rotten in the state of Denmark". But now I'm stuck.

I think it's Balfour Castle on Shapinsay, in the Orkneys. The geoshape was a big help...

Here it is -- looks like a pastry snail!
Mine? Seems big for that, but I'm not ruling it out. Volcano? That's a lot of perfectly concentric rings. Crater? again, those concentric rings don't look right.
