Google and wikipedia. Could it be this?
Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre is located about 25 kilometers west of Sandakan, in eastern Malaysia on the island of Borneo in the state of Sabah. It was started in 1964 for rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, and illegal hunting. The orphaned orang-utans are trained to survive again in the wild and are released as soon as ready. The sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which covers an area of 5529 ha, much of which is virgin jungle.

Right Island. Wrong country.

Big hint since you referred to the people of the forest and their rescue. It's very close to TNKM.

Malinau Central goverment (Malinau)

(new district capitals, mainly for constructing government offices and providing civil servants’ housing and supporting facilities.)

Well done! You are a very good geo-hunter.

It's quite an establishment for Gov't offices deep in Kalimantan!

You are up.

'Tis ignorance that makes a barren waste
Of all beyond itself. Thou dost bedew
Green rushes like our rivers, and dost taste
The pleasant sunrise. Green isles hast thou too,
And to the sea as happily dost haste.

That's the Suez Canal... but I have to say, you left the coordinates on the image... ;)

You should have another turn.

François gets a gold star! I had a suspicion I was throwing a soft ball, but I had no idea how soft it really was with those cute little coordinates sitting on the map. lol

OK. I used to live near here. Will give a singular hint only, sans coordinates:

The Greek translation for this city's name may well deserve a rest after you ponder this location long enough.

You know... forum regulars may very well remember where you used to live, enter that name in Google Earth and then spot the solution in about 4 seconds...

Ancona, on the Adriatic coast of Italy... And according to Wikipedia: Ancona is a very slightly modified transliteration of the Greek Αγκων, meaning "elbow"

Let's try for a really tough one...

Just to clarify, it's the rectangular landscape feature I'm after.

Constructed to be the best of its kind, outdated by the time it was finished, never actually used and left to deteriorate. A monument to times of old... Well, not very old...

Sounds like the last map I made.

Yep - it IS a tough one. Another hint?

70% actually, because it's obviously a feature on land somewhere :)

Okay... another hint... It was all about accurate measurements...
