Well done.
I'm headed to Indiana in a little bit and will take a photo from Buddha, IN which is nearby Crane NSA.
You're up.

This greyish thing in the middle stands out.
There some traffic nearby - on road and rails... And a small town named after the searched for feature...
Hmmm... It's not Devil's Tower in Wyoming, is it?
I'll bet it's a basalt plug, but I don't think there's a busy road so close to Devil's Tower.

No, it is not Devil's Tower. Not even the right country, but you're on the right continent. There's a railroad running trough the equally named town and around the feature, and this country is proud of it's railroad history!
The town near the searched feature is the highest point on the rail line which goes north-south. We're also in a hilly to mountainous region. Anyone for a catch?
So, as you can see, this region is embedded between two large mountain ranges.
Also, there is a string of small placements to the west which are named by distance from a certain point...
Is it Lone Butte in British Columbia?
Yeah, you're right on target! Was traveling trough the Cariboo district last summer when suddenly this rock appeared almost in the middle of nowhere. From up there we enjoyed a great 360° view of the landscape before hitting the road again.
You're up next!
Alright, here goes.

Technically it's an island.
The name implies you can watch races there.

My first thought was that it was an island in a salt lake, but the watching races gave me an idea (they are very slow races though!).
It's Grandstand Island on Racetrack Playa, in Death Valley, California, USA.
We spent Christmas 2006 in Death Valley, on our way back to England from my three years of working in Redlands.
