Maponics Launches International Neighborhood Boundaries Data

Now online companies in local search, travel, real estate and wireless services finally have a source for accurate European neighborhood map data

NORWICH, Vt.--(April 21, 2009)--Today Maponics LLC (http://www.maponics.com), a provider of highly-local geographic data, announced the launch of Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries TM. First released in beta earlier this year, this specialized spatial dataset will include neighborhoods for approximately 100 cities in over 15 European Union countries by the end of 2009.

“Companies have had trouble finding high quality neighborhood boundary information for areas outside of North America,” explains Darrin Clement, CEO and president of Maponics. “So we created this product in response to the needs of our customers. The accuracy and commitment we provide is essential for global companies serious about taking their international interactive search and mapping to the local neighborhood level.”

Industry giants like AccuData, infoUSA, Trulia, Dominion Enterprises (eNeighborhoods and Homes.com) and Citysearch all rely on Maponics for U.S. & Canadian neighborhood boundary data. Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries offers the same caliber of map data for the European Union with other international regions to follow.

“We’re constantly working with customers to increase the value of all Maponics neighborhood boundary datasets,” Clement continues. “By expanding from the US, to Canada, to the EU, and beyond, our global-minded customers can offer a consistent local search experience. And we are still the only commercial-grade data with clear, single-line boundaries between neighborhoods. This allows search results to be associated with one distinct neighborhood, not two or more, as seen when neighborhoods are allowed to overlap.”

Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries is available for quarterly delivery in SHP, KML and many other file formats. It can also be accessed via the Maponics Spatial API, for companies who would prefer to outsource data hosting and management.

Businesses believing they would benefit from access to Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries should contact Mark Friend, VP of sales and marketing at 800.762.5158 or info@maponics.com.
