Hello,

I'm working on improving the graphic design of several maps created by a transportation agency in ArcMap9.3. The agency sent us both a .mdx shape file and an .ai file. We've opened the .ai file in CS2 but find that the text labels show up in the Character palette as being 1 pt when in fact the text is much larger (more like 12 pt).

Any ideas how we can correct this problem?

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

this is a known (and frustrating!) bug in illustrator CS2, for whatever reason font sizes get messed up on export from ArcGIS. to fix it, you just need to select all text objects, cut and paste them into a new document, and then cut and paste them back into the original document...

They are 12 pt, you just have to do a little trick when importing text:

1. select all text in label layer
2. hit right arrow once, wait for the map to refresh, then hit left arrow once

you should see AI correctly register the fonts now as 12pt.

* don't forget to remove clipping masks :)
