I'm trying to plot a series of coordinates for Massachusetts in the USA from a document dating from the 1830's. In my mapping software I'm using NAD27, but, of course, that didn't exit in the 1830's so I am getting errors.
Do anybody have an thoughts on plotting such historical coordinates?

Mmm...now way to find out the Datum?
AFAIK Airy was developed in the 1830ies. maybe worth a try.
