Yep...not to mention Antarctica. :-)

They must just be hiding the source of the 20+ feet of additional ocean levels that we'll have to all deal with if all those glaciers, snow and ice continues to melt. But hey, look on the bright side! How many hundreds of thousands of map designs will need to be updated after all those coastal areas become coral reefs?! Hans may need to move in with one of us though after The Netherlands is completely submerged... :(

Or some of the other Canadian islands such as Ellesemere or the Queen Elixabeth Islands. Not enough of a market there for them I guess.

I seriously doubt Apple employs any cartographers... they probably outsourced the production of that map. In fact, it could've been one of us that did the work! C'mon, speak up... who did it? ;)

No I think he meant a proper projector . the map is crooked


I think it's the camera angle that's making it crooked.

But yeah, for a company touting all of it's mapping capabilities, I think a simple map like this should've been done properly. I wonder what their reasoning is for leaving those out? It looks like they are employing the use of "no data" classification (gray areas). Why not use that for the missing countries?

I agree with Hans, nothing wrong with Mercator... it's the most recognizable projection... I guess Apple didn't want to shock the world with a Winkel Triple.

Or it's a "rookie" mistake like one I did a couple years back... I linked my countries to an incomplete attribute file so the countries with no data didn't show... It almost went to press before I realized it.
