After Hugo's succesful website launch, today it's my turn :)

I'm pleased to announce that as of today Freelancecartographer.com is active. This is a site that in time will be showing off my cartography portfolio and hopefully will be generating me some more map production work.

Hans, that name -- "Freelancecartographer.com" -- is a stroke of genius. You'll get a ton of traffic on your site just from that!
Did anyone notice yet that Hans has linked some of us on his Links page? :D

Yeah! That what I thought! Everyone here will regret they didn't have registered that domain first! ;)

I have to finish my site to be on that list! :P

Great job Hans!!

Registered them all last August :) I have to admit it surprised me too...

Well done Hans!

I am glad you got those domains rather than some non-cartographer who would just park the site and try and re-sell the domain to one of us...

Say, how much do want for the PROFESSIONALCARTOGRAPHER.COM domain?

Like Hans I registered a lot of domains related to the keywords I use for Google advertising, and all are just pointers to my existing site:
custommapdesigner.com
custommapmaker.com
professionalmapdesigner.com
professionalmapmaker.com
freelancemapdesigner.com
freelancemapmaker.com
themapdesigner.com
maps-and-atlases.com

Very nice site!
I wanted to click on the map images on the left to open sample maps. Also seemed a bit odd that the order there was different from the order of the actual maps in the Work/Portfolio page. But those are minor criticisms, more a matter of taste, not actual errors.

The idea is that eventually the portfolio will have more content (well, it does already) than those 4 images. I'll see about making them clickable though.

  • Interests:I am a Cartographer with varied experience. I work primarily as a freelancer. In my freelancing career I have worked with Maps.com, Designmaps.com, 3dmaps and various other map making and cartography sites.

I have varied software experience, however I use almost all the Cartography and quite a few GIS software, Illustrator, Freehand, Adobe Photoshop and Mapinfo to be precise. I have also worked on Microstation and other Intergraph software including Stereo Photogrammetry on ZI Photo Suites. The other software that I utilize for various other tasks specially 3D realism are Global Mapper and Maprenderer 3D.

Global mapper is a versatile software for various conversion and I found Maprenderer 3D for producing stunning 3D images from height data.

I am available for freelance work, right from mundane line digitisation to Illustrator / Freehand Cartography. Just send me a mail at promapper@gmail.com

Wow, congrats Hans. It is a neatly designed site and loads so quickly; did you also adopt some image compression strategy or your hosting provider gives you loads of bandwidth. And I liked your caption of Oolaalaa spherical chair  so very appropriate. The Oolaalaa connection for India is the Kingfisher Airlines which has a catchy tune which begins with Oolaalaa. Here I wish you loads of luck and tons of work from the new website.

I'm not sure how long ago EVC grabbed www.cartographic.com but I'm sure it was many years back, otherwise you guys would have gobbled it up too.
Nice work on the new site!
