If you select the features you want to run the geoprocessing command on, then run the command – only those selected features should be used.

Ok, another question (this board has been the most useful thing, and I'm so grateful):

Can you assign buffers to JUST selected features WITHIN a shapefile? Or, do you have to extract those features and create shapefiles seperately? And, if so... how do you do that?



Also, I should probably mention I'm using ArcMAP.

What software do you have? In FME it'd be a pretty simple operation, using the buffers in a Clipper or SpatialFilter to select only features within them and then writing that out to a new shapefile.

*doh* I ought to read all new posts before replying...
