That sounds like an interesting position; I would love to apply, however I do not have Illustrator experience. Good luck finding a replacement, it sounds like a great opportunity, so I am sure you won't have any problems!

Mappy, be bold and honest and apply anyways - if you are interested. I don't know how the process is going, but I think they will have a hard time replacing me - I was almost too multirole... They might need to pick someone that does not necessarily have all the requirements.

Do they have some position for a freelancer? I have almost all the skills, not to your skill levels. I know quite a bit of software packs; the GIS (Mapinfo and ArcGIS), Vector Drawing and Image software (Microstation, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop) and some generic software like Global Mapper, Maprenderer 3D. I have data export import skills where I can utilize diverse data in map making process. I have built a small website, all by myself, for displaying some of the skills and maps that I have done as freelancer. You may like to see that at http://www.mapsandlocations.com.
Do I have a chance of getting some freelance work in a sustained manner rather than a job? I really do not intend leaving India. If you want I will gladly take on a pilot project too. I can also work as a telecommuter (or something similar). With the internet there are so many possibilities, do I have any chance??? Please do guide me.
Best..
Anu

Anu, I don't think so, there is already a network of freelancers - I am one. But feel free to offer your services to them - I don't work there anymore, since Nov 1st, so I can't answer or help you - see the contact information on the website.
