Hey guys,
I thought I'd post some non-technical maps and see what the verdict is. Essentially I am a commercial illustrator who has the good fortune to work on a steady stream of fantasy genre fictional maps. 100% of the work is done in Photoshop.

Let me know what you think. :)

Mike,

Very nice work indeed. Love your attention to detail. As a SF/Fantasy reader, I always enjoy looking at the maps in the novels.

One thing though, on the first map, the Sunset mountains seem to be 2 distinct sets separated by lower foothills. How likely would it be that those 2 mountain chains would get the same name?

That was an editorial decision. I actually brought that up during the assignment but the authors had a method to their madness. ;)

Glad you guys like the work. :)

Any ideas on who I might approach outside of the game publishing industry for additional freelance work? If anyone has experience working with guidebook publishers (Trail or Travel) please let me know what your experiences have been like and what the contract/final product standards are.

Any advice would be like gold.

You got great talent so obviously you have programming abilities.

"There is much beauty that we fail to see through our own eyes teeming with life forms that give us that perception of our reality.  Leaves on the trees blowing gently in the wind, or scarily, the waves pounding through high surf, or lightly on a warm summer’s day; that opportunity to sit or swim in the water on a white beach.   That comfort to shout, “The universal conscious do you hear me?  I am alive, guide me dear logos towards the path of rightnesses.”  Earned what has been kept, no longer to be absorbed into a life filled with cold damn winds and  that stubborn fog clouding  my vision with nothing but darkness."
