Hi all,

I have downloaded Tom Patterson's Natural earth physical map of the world and want to get maps of different countries from it. So, I have to crop and reproject the original map. I am using mac and don't have special GIS products. I only have Geographic imager but I wasnt able to reproject the map with it because when I try to transform map between two coordinate systems I always get error massage that projection I selected (destination projection) does not cover the extent of my map. Does anyone do how to solve this?

Here is what I do:
- Open a World map whic is in Plate Carree (Equidistant cylindrical) projection.
- Assign correct world file and coordinate system.
- Crop the world map to England area only.
- Error when want to transform it to British national grid projection.

Thanks

P.S. Sorry about my bad english

Are you sure about the original projection? I thought Tom always supplied Natural Earth data in unprojected lat/lon

Hans - "Plate Carree (Equidistant cylindrical)" is the same as unprojected lat/lon (in old ArcInfo lingo - "geographic projection").

Cera - in your list of steps, how far do you get - are you able to do the crop, and it is just the reprojection that fails?
