I have been having problems working with some Illustrator files (created on the PC) in InDesign on the Mac. If I print the .ai as a .ps and then distill and import the file into InDesign then InDesign stops responding. Same thing with an eps from Illustrator. I've had someone on the pc convert all the text to outlines and still InDesign keeps freezing up. Has anyone had a similar issue.
I have a G5, dual 2.3 Ghz PowerPC processor, 4.5 GB ram, ATI Radeon 9600. The PC's in our department don't have any problems importing the same file(s) as my mac does. Any suggestions?

Is the .ai file exported directly from ArcGIS?
I have been placing .ai files (created on a PC in Illustrator) into InDesign on a Mac without any problems. I am sure you have a good reason to send the file through distiller, but have you tried placing a native .ai file? With the PC fonts outlined, it works on my CS2 version.
