Here's my problem:

I work for a community greening organization and we do land care work on vacant parcels in Philadelphia. 2 of my colleagues have gone into the filed with parcel maps and filled in the parcels that we work on. My task is to take our existing parcel file and create a new feature class that contains ONLY those parcels that are vacant and cared for by us.

This is waht I have been doing thus far - Selecting each parcel from the original master parcel file and then exporting the selected parcels. My problem is that these maps come in one or two at a time so I have to go back and add more parcels. I can make new individual feature classes, but I cannot figure out how to make the files join. Short of gathering all of the paper maps at one time and digitizing them based on this master parcel file, is there anything else I can do?

Thanks!

The following recommendation is based on the assumption that you are using ArcMap.

Create an empty Personal Geodatabase/Feature Class/Feature Dataset in ArcCatalog. You can then use the "Load Data" function (right click on the feature dataset) to add individual parcels to the geodatabase using the exported parcel data from the master parcel database.

This is a general description of the procedure. Go here: http://webhelp.esri....ng_geodatabases for tutorials and info on geodatabases and here: http://webhelp.esri....a_in_ArcCatalog to see how to load data into a geodatabase.

Thanks,
M.

Thank you so much. That was EXACTLY what I was looking for!
