ActioNet is currently seeking candidates for a GIS Analyst/Cartographer with at least 2 years of professional cartographic experience.
As an employee of ActioNet, you will have the opportunity to work with the Humanitarian Information Unit (HIU). The mission of the HIU is to serve as a U.S. Government interagency center to identify, collect, analyze, and disseminate unclassified information critical to U.S. Government decision-makers and partners in preparation for and response to humanitarian emergencies worldwide, and to promote best practices for humanitarian information management.
The ability to receive and maintain a U. S. Government security clearance at the Secret level is required.
The Analyst/Cartographer must be deadline-oriented, able to work in a team environment and experienced in translating analyst requirements into high quality maps and publishable cartographic output using ArcGIS Desktop software. Experience with the ArcGIS Maplex or PLTS extensions is useful but not required. Some Cartographic products may require finishing with Adobe Illustrator -- this skill set is required. Experience with Avenza MapPublisher would also be useful.
Experience creating cartographic icons, styles and map templates for standardized map production is a plus.
Responsibilities also include producing and maintaining cartographic databases, producing project specific data sets, creating and maintaining metadata.
Experience with ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and Model Maker, Spotfire and/or image processing using Erdas Imagine is useful but not required.
