You caught my attention with "chocolate".... :)

Although, I am not sure what exactly you are trying to represent..

If it is supposed to look like chocolate, shouldn't it at least be brown?

Did you consider some sort of cartogram displaying the volume of chocolate production per state?

Nah, its a design done for publication purpose in a brochure along with the Asia map which i had presented earlier, and it was well received by the viewers and the same shall be considered in brochure printing. May be some more critics on this is welcomed, so that remaining 3 more designs that i have done will be taken care.

Cheers!!!

Make the gulleys between the states much thinner. It will look even more like a chocolate bar and maybe you can even recuperate the smaller lost states
and more brown will make it more yummy.
Good luck

Perhaps consider this:
Outlines exported as JPG & then plaster effect in Photoshop.

Try to give it more of a chocolate feel with a bit of texture, and smaller "valleys" between the states.
I would also use a rich milky brown, and give it almost an oily or glossy look with some tighter gradients.
For an even more realistic effect you could make the state acronyms look like they were molded into the chocolate when it was pressed!

Mmm, chocolate and maps, two of my favorite subjects. :D

I agree, the original map posted here needs to be browner, and some of the other suggestions would help with the chocolate feel (embossed state abbreviations, a little texture or sheen).

Congratulations!

You have successfully used the emboss layer style in photoshop.

Did you really get a prize for this?

If so, you gotta let us know when this competition is. I'm guessing 99% of the people here would blow them all away.

Hi GISGURU,

Congratulations on your consolation price.

It's a very interesting concept, I have never thought of something like this but I do like the idea. I think with the feedback you have been given already, you have real potential to make this into something very unique. It would be cool to see another version using the feedback you have been given.
