Hey everyone,
Just joined up today, I'm a geography student at Rowan University down in south Jersey. I use mainly Arcinfo for cartographic authoring while most of my work has been concentrated on land use research in New Jersey. I've made poster and paper presentations to the AAG specifically dealing with agricultural development. Now I am looking (unsuccessfully so far) for work in my field and might just go ahead and start my own business dealing with smart planning for municipalities and county's that might not have the budget or popular support otherwise. Its nice to meet you all and I hope to really learn from your experience and contribute where I can.

Hi Jason, and welcome to Cartotalk!
If you're serious about starting your own business, check out the "Business of Cartography" section, there's a couple of interesting discussions there.
