I'm looking into software to produce some 3d maps to help my niece and nephew visualise maps in their geography class.

Would MapRender3D be a good choice for someone with no exposure to map making.

If there are examples on the site, can someone direct me to them.

i'd check out Natural Scene Designer as well. a little cheaper. look into a student license. i think they use to have these and it was super cheap.
