Hi,
I am looking for a paper by Jeffery Nighbert from the 2007 ESRI User Confrence, titled "Making Noise with ArcGIS". The abstract is online at the ESRI website but I cannot seem to find the whole paper.
I have already been able to get some resources from the esri website and here (including a few posts here regarding bump mapping), and have also been able to track down a walk through which of Jeffery Nighberts method mentioned in a thread on this forum.
If anyone knows where abouts one can download/purchase the paper that would be great.
Thanks
Andrew

Jeffery's e-mail address is in that abstract. Have you tried contacting him.
I'll see if I can find out where or how to get the papers.

I think ESRI sends out a CD/DVD of all the conference papers a few months after the conference. Does anyone have a copy? I'm interested in reading it as well.

On the website that shows the paper abstracts there would be a link to the paper if it were available. For whatever reason there does not seem to be a paper available for Jeffery's abstract.
I can't remember - does the cd/dvd contain user-presented papers? If it does I guess it might not have it if the paper wasn't available on the website either.

Hi,
Yeah I was thinking of emailing him Dave, Hans dropped me some details to get in touch as well. I just didn't want to harrass him for it if the paper was already out there somewhere on the net. Anyways i'll drop him a line and let you know how it went.

I'm working on (spare time) natural looking maps and I'm aware of Jeff Nighbert previous work. So I'm also very interested in this paper but I just didn't contact him yet. Please report back if you have any success.

It's very possible that the abstract was for his presentation at the conference and there isn't a paper available at this time.
He works not far from me in Portland - so if you have trouble getting a hold of him (or decide not to), let me know and I'll give him a ring.

I work with Jeff- I'll ask him on Monday.
Maybe I'll try to get him to join up.

Hi,
Yeah I got in contact with Jeff and got a response, he is a pretty busy man by the sounds of things. He said he will email me the paper when he gets a chance (approx two weeks), he is off on work then on vacation. So i'll let it rest for the time being. Jeff said he would contact me when he returns.
I'll keep you all posted.

I know this is an old thread, but there is some new information on Jeff Nighbert's work at the Esri Mapping Center site in case anyone happens upon this thread.
See Jeff's blog post and pdf of his UC 2010 presentation.

Thanks Dave.
I still think the esri mapping centre is the best esri site going around, for resources such as this! Its helping ArcGIS users become much more productive and creative at the same time
