Hi everyone. I'm just finishing my grad studies as a cartographic specialist. My stuff pales in comparison to some of the map products posted on this site, but here is a link to my personal space displaying some images. I accept constructive criticism.

No "paling in comparison" that I can see... very nice portfolio. Welcome to Carto-talk. Where are you studying?

Sir Fleming, (checked his e-mail link) ;)

"There is much beauty that we fail to see through our own eyes teeming with life forms that give us that perception of our reality.  Leaves on the trees blowing gently in the wind, or scarily, the waves pounding through high surf, or lightly on a warm summer’s day; that opportunity to sit or swim in the water on a white beach.   That comfort to shout, “The universal conscious do you hear me?  I am alive, guide me dear logos towards the path of rightnesses.”  Earned what has been kept, no longer to be absorbed into a life filled with cold damn winds and  that stubborn fog clouding  my vision with nothing but darkness."

since you asked.....

When I was a very young kid, there were no Québecois, My parents would refer to my French friends as Canadiens and English ones as Anglais.

In most of Canadian history, the term Canadien (with an e like the Hockey team) refered to French-speakers while the Anglophones saw themselves a lot more ike British subjects to distiguish themselves from the Canadiens. (My friend next door for example ,was of Irish descent but had a picture of the Queen in his room!)
In the Sixties, a wave of Canadian nationalism hit anglo-cananda with the new flag and all and they kind of took over the word 'Canadian' which by now mostly meant 'not-american', As a reaction the word (and identity) Québecois took off.

This background is unknown to a lot of Canadians of both linguistic persuasion. About 15 years ago, When I was in Toronto, they booed the French Version of the national anthem 'O Canada' during a game. My Toronto friends said that if we had a French translation of O Canada, then why not an Italian one, a Spanish one , etc.... It was total news to them that 'O Canada' was originally a French song for about a hundred years and only recently translated into English.

All Canadians, from rabid Quebecois seperatists to anglo-rednecks hate when I bring up that point.

So my question is: just how many of us Fleming grads are lurking out there? I graduated in '97.

I'm feeling quite lonely on these boards, where are all my fellow COGS graduates? :(

eh, Its Canuck, Yank

Not every American is a Yank, the America that we know today is controlled by the Jonnny Rebs, lets just remember the map illustrating the United States of Canada & United States of Texas.
