This is a bit premature, however....I noticed that the NACIS website shows the hotel information for the upcoming 2008 meeting in Missoula MT. In the past the conference rate rooms have went fairly quick, so it might be a good idea to reserve your spot now, rather than later if you know you're going. Who's going?NACIS 2008

Just a quick clarification: The conference will be at the Holiday Inn not the Hilton.
Also make sure you get a room at the "Holiday Inn - Downtown" and not the "Holiday Inn Express." We've got both here in Missoula and it can get a bit confusing.

Right now the conference is looking pretty cool, we have a possible day trip in the works for Glacier National Park on Saturday, as long as the road construction on Going-to-the-Sun road permits. Last year I was up there on the 15th of October and the weather was spectacular. So, keep your fingers crossed.

Also, if anyone needs more info on Missoula or the conference, especially as it gets closer to October, feel free to contact any of us cartographers at Adventure Cycling.

Casey,
Thanks for the clarification on the hotel. I updated the title of the post to avoid any confusion. Keep us posted on new developments!

We just found out today that the west-side of Going-to-the-Sun Road is going to be open in October :D , and hence the Glacier National Park day trip will happen on the Saturday of the NACIS Conference!

If your not feelin' the Glacier Trip, there will be two other Saturday options:
1) a day trip to a Lewis and Clark Historic Site near Lolo, MT.
2) Steven Holloway is planning a workshop, which you can find more about here.

The registration for the conference is up online here.

Looking for a roommate (male nonsmoker). I'm arriving Tuesday afternoon, leaving Sunday morning crack of dawn. All or part of conference would be welcome.

I'll be driving from Bozeman to Missoula on the 7th (departure from Bozeman around noon). If anybody else is flying into Bozeman and wants a ride, let me know.

Me too! I am looking SO forward to this!

I'm a little concerned that the "3 mile hike" might be a bit of a challenge for me (I lead a pretty sedentary life) but I will give it my best.

I would be very interested in that day trip to Glacier NP!

Oh, I can do 3 miles, no problem.

It does kinda depend on where those 3 specific miles are... obviously over here in The Netherlands it's a lot easier.

Well, we'll see what happens when we're up there.

I walk 3 miles on the weekends, but on a mainly flat route, and at a very lackadaisical pace.
(My husband and I go to just about every outdoor festival available here)

I wonder if I can keep up with all you athletic cartographers!
:P
