I need to run a calculation on a list of about 300 geocoded addresses that will output a list of about 150 pairs of 'nearest neighbors'. It is a point shapefile so I guess I could run the lat/lon distance difference on each record for an 'as the crow flies' distance OR use some street centerline data. I have Arcmap and most of the extensions but I thought I would post this here while I am trying to figure it out just in case I don't figure it out on my own. I HAVE been looking around and reading the documentation. Found some interesting stuff but not exactly what I want yet.

If you happen to have an ArcInfo license, you can simply use the Near tool. If you have a lowly ArcView license, you can get the output you need using Hawth's Tools, Hawthorne Beyer's extremely useful toolset for ArcGIS. You can download Hawth's Tools, gratis, from the Spatial Ecology website: http://www.spatialecology.com/htools/

Thanks, I'm going to try that tool out. So far I have been trying out this:

http://forums.esri.c...p...218177&mc=2

And it works great. Only problem is that it outputs a one-to-many scenario in some cases. I might prefer to have only 1 nearest neighbor per point. As in removing a point as an option once it has been designated as a nearest neighbor of another point.

Thank you for the tip.
