Hey y'all, I'm from Beaumont, TX and am new to GIS. I want to use GIS software to better manage and utilize the thousands of acres of public and private wetlands in my area. All I've done so far is to begin to create a simple shapefile showing the boundaries of compartments on a local Wildlife management area on top of some 1m DOQQ of the same area. I'm looking forward to doing much more.

Even though this board is primarily focused on maps and cartography - one possible output from GIS - you may find that this is also a good resource to discuss GIS. If you need assistance on specific things for the software you are using, there might be better message boards/mailing lists though, but you can also post here as well.

Thats good idea, i too do a lot of cartography as well GIS projects on social front which at some stage fetches me $$$.
