This just in from "Men's Vogue" magazine: Massimo Vignelli the infamous/famous NYC based designer has just updated his 1972 NYC subway map/diagram. The new 2008 version will be sold in a limited edition autographed print-run of 500.

I'm kind-of looking at it fast, but it appears that 'Big Vig' has taken a hint from KickMap's color book ( Kick Map's design still works better for me).

Here's some info on Vignelli's original map:
-Micheal Beruit's article
-Outtake from the film 'Helvetica', in which he appears unsatisfied with his 1972 verson

A link to our earlier discussion of the Vignelli map, including a revision he did in the mid-80s. (I can't figure out how to move those uploads here.)
