Does anyone know how to do this?
I'm figuring it's really easy and I'm just not seeing it, or really difficult.
If you know, please do share.
thanks!

Apart from manually typing the value you want, I don't think there's a way to do it. Would be nice though, also for font sizes. The sizes I use most often aren't on the preset lists.

exactly.
It goes up to 100 pt. and that's just ridiculous for the work I (we) do. ESRI just added the feature to customize their scale dropdown, and that's was a nice improvement imo. I would must rather have .1 .2 .3 etc, than 30, 40. 50...
Oh well, manual entry it is..., at least it's friday....

I was hoping this was something that could be modified manually in the AIPREFS file....but after digging around in there, I'm not seeing anything. Someone else may want to check just in case I missed something.
If you look in the same folder as the the prefs file (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings) There's a file in there called AIMenuFaceCache. Does anyone know what purpose this file serves? I really doubt it's going to help us. I'm just curious. I googled it and didnt really find any documentation.

Good question Rob. I believe that any "predefined" lists that appear in popup menus and the like are "hard coded" into the program. As such, I am not aware of any way to manually adjust those values.
Might I suggest that you create a series of graphic styles instead? That may make it easier to apply often-used settings.

I'm pretty sure that's a cached version of the font menu that contains the list of fonts with previews. I know from experience that's a pretty time-consuming list to generate so they're probably serializing it to disk to speed up displaying it. Just my best guess, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't something like that.
As for customizing the dropdowns, I don't know of any way to do it in code. Preferences is possible, but I'm guessing there's no way to do this unfortunately. Still, if you find a way, I'll be interested in hearing about it
