Greetings,

This is my first post here.

I am using ArcView GIS 3.2.
The lines for roads, streams etc are composed of numerous broken segments.

I then Export as an Ilustrator file.

When I open the file using AI CS2 the lines are still in numerous
segments.

Question:
How can I join the line segments to create a continuous path using AI CS2?

Here is a screen shot:

Thanks,
-Mike

Mike,

Welcome to CartoTalk.

I use Rick Johnson's Concatenate tool for this. The details are in this post.

I use MAPublisher for this. There is a filter for joining arcs. You have to give the data a dummy attribute that's the same for all the lines you want to join. It's similar to a dissolve in GIS.

I prefer to do this in a GIS (my choice would be FME), it's a GIS function after all...
