The artistic style's not my thing, but I really like someone picking up on an old theme. Hope it starts a trend...

Hallo, Jean-Louis!

Someone posted this link on my wikipedia page on pictorial maps.

It I have posted this link. :)
(I hope, that it is pleasant to someone...)

I knew this forum earlier, but did not think, that someone here is interested in pictorial maps.
(I have looked pictorial maps on a site http://www.geografix.ca/. Very much it was pleasant to me (especially HOLY MEKKAH))

I worked in structure of the ministry a civil defence and extreme situations earlier. Drew confidential maps... <_<
But I always liked pictorial maps...

Hallo, natcase!
It is very interesting map!
I yet did not see similar.

In difference from it I wish to draw symbols which do not depend on a momentary political situation.
(But I too, have one political caricature. (Belgium the sketch))

Welcome to the forum Alexander! Your maps are very impressive! I think you'll find that many of us here love and admire pictorial maps. I'm confident that if more us had the skills and know-how to create them, you'd see more discussion about them! Erin

Welcome to the forum Alexander. You will find a great variety here... from highly technical discussions to people posting pictures of fried eggs that look like geographical shapes.
I was intrigued by your beautifully crafted images. I am glad you decided to hop into the forum.

people posting pictures of fried eggs that look like geographical shapes

It's really truth? :D :D

Well... My pictures are similar to such fried eggs...
These are more pictures than a map...

Welcome, Alexander. Interesting pictorial maps!

I have a book on my shelf here called "Pictorial Maps", by Nigel Holmes, published in 1991 by Watson-Guptill. Shows examples of a variety of different types of pictorial, including the one Nat posted the link to and similar maps, plus much more.
