I was visiting my mother this weekend and since I won't be able to see her again 'til after my birthday, she gave me my present early...
Guess where are all my maps are going to be stored?
Cool!
And happy (early) birthday

Are those your maps on the box?
Nah! They're old road maps. I haven't published enough stuff to cover an entire box yet...

Looks like the official Quebec highway map on top.
no, Its a patchwork of all sorts of maps. I know. I do the same thing to wrap presents. Give your presents wrapped in cool maps. The package gets opened much more carefully and then people look at the map after the present which distracts attention away from cheap presents like the ones I usually give

But that's my 'thing' Jean! Well I'm sure plenty of other have too—you're right though, people always love looking at that old usually partially obsolete map.
We do a lot of published mapping (well we used to do a lot more than we do now). But there are always stocks of old obsolete maps (or test prints/proofs from the large format) which I grab and always use fro wrapping presents. Wrapping paper is one of the big wastes I really don't like—I'd prefer a present wrapped in an old newspaper (you wanna be thoughful then pick the pages you use). There's so much interesting old paper out there why we using more resources for wrapping paper.
