Where from we can get free download global coverage of hill shading . If it is in .dem format will be better for me. SRTM data is good but it hasnt cover whole world and resolurion is so high. I am looking for low/medium resolution file size will be lighter.

Just so you know, .dem is an elevation format. You can use that data to produce hillshades. SRTM30 also comes in JPG format, but that's already colored as well. Go to ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm/version2/SRTM30/ and look in each directory for the .jpg.zip file.
If you want to have some more control over how it looks, download the .dem.zip files and do the shading yourself. There's various programs to do that. 3DEM is a freeware one that works quite well, and there's many commercial options available with a wide rance of capabilities (and prices).

Our distinguished colleague Tom Patterson has some cool stuff that you might be interested in.
Natural Earth has a set with shaded relief, global coverage.
Also check out his CleanTopo2 - which is my elevation model for global/regional maps.
