This is a shot in the dark, but do any of you have soils data for Buncombe County, North Carolina in shapefile format? NRCS sites do not have it in spatial format. Buncombe County GIS staff are not willing to give me their older data (they are in the process of updating the data layer).
Anybody...Any North Carolinians out there with some insight?
Thanks.

Looks like Buncombe County is an older soil survey that was never digitized.
You best bet is to contact the State Soil Scientist in North Carolina. Roy Vick, phone 919-873-2141
If the data is mostly complete, you may be able to get an *unofficial copy* of the data. This may still have some gaps, slivers, missing symbols, etc. ; but it would be better than nothing. Make you needs known, and the fact that you are a GIS expert and would use the *unofficial data* wisely. This spatial data may not be linked to the attribute data. If this is the case I can help you with this.
Good luck,
Dan

Thanks Dan,
I actually got the County GIS staff to send me a copy of their "unofficial" version of the data. They should have the complete updated version available on the web in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again.
