It depends on what you call the "very best" world map of course, but Maps.com or Map Resources would be a good place to start.

You can certainly find what you are looking for by checking out the various map companies profiled on this forum.

The International Map Trade Association is another resource. Their online directory includes a search for map publishers.
Map Link in the US has an online catalog with a geographic search. Unfortunately at the moment searching for "world" doesn't get you world maps. I've let them know so hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I know there are other distributors out there. Again the IMTA directory should give you some further leads.
